2012 Newsletter
Dear Hunters, Families and Friends.
Every year seems to speed up, this one being no exception.
First to Cameroon in February with long time hunter and friend, Ancil from Florida. After having taken the Big 5 with me, Ancil was after other quarry such as The Lord Derby Eland and Savannah Buffalo. With his trusty 375, he managed to negotiate the heat and Tsetse flies to take both prized Trophies and a few others back home.
Straight after that, it was Ross and Nicole out of Colorado on the same mission. Nicole making a perfect shot on a nice Eland, and Ross following up with a good Buffalo and some plains game.
Zimbabwe, brought two guides from Canada's Yukon Territory, Donn and John, and Jim, a mate of theirs.
A great time was had by all, Donn taking a beautiful Sable and a nice Zebra, though just remember which end to shoot at!! Lions roaring at night and close encounters with Elephant, finishing the trip at Victoria Falls. Wonderful! Well done, lads! Look forward to seeing you in Canada someday.
Shortly to follow was Larthel and Pernille from Denmark hunting Buffalo. The thick bush made the hunting tough, but enjoyable none the less.
From there it was a group from the USA - again hunting Buffalo - this time in Chete along the lake. Drew, son of John, to hunt the Buff and Todd, cousin as observer, along with my good friend, Gavin, ably assisting. Another tough hunt but a few good beasties went down.
June was here bringing James from Texas hunting Buffalo and Sable on the Bubye Conservancy in the South of the country. After seeing a bunch, James took both of his trophies with well placed shots. Looking forward to seeing the Ranch and hunting the elusive Whitetail with you. Many thanks for the invite, James, much appreciated.
From here it was straight to Matetsi to welcome a wonderful family with Quinn, the son, taking his first African Buffalo and his dad, John, by his side all the way, even Mum standing in for a photo or two. Look forward to hunting Namibia with you in 2014.
July saw some South Africans arrive, Johan hunting Buffalo with me in Chirisa and knocking down a wide spreading Bull.
Then back South to Bubye to hunt Leopard with Tom of Florida. We saw a big Tom the last night that melted into the bush, giving no chance of a shot. That's cat hunting!! Patience.
Then to welcome to a family from San Antonio Texas: George, Cynthia, Cosby, Harry and Suzanna, hunting with myself and PH Ade Langley out of the same locale. The family took a total of 32 animals ranging from Buffalo to Steenbuck. Guess we will just have to wait to get the Giraffe the next time!!??
Staying in the South, next arrived the men from Wisconsin, Lonnie, whom I've know for years, Mike and Mark. The boys got busy and made me work. A great time had by all. Looking forward to seeing you all back with the families.
Next back to Matetsi to see long time hunter, Ramon, and his wonderful wife, ChaCha. Ramon was here to round out his big 5 taking a respectable Elephant and nice Sable. Wonderful to have a great time on safari. Look forward to catching up with you back in the US.
Now into October brought father and son, Johan and George. After some challenging stalks, Johan unfortunately wounded his Buffalo - that's hunting.
November, with the crazy heat and rain beckoning, saw the last of the hunters, Mogens and Soren again from Denmark, hunting Elephant and Buffalo, who after some Hardwork, both put animals down. Well done lads! Look forward to doing it again in the not too distant future.
Well that's it for this year.
Wishing you all a Blessed Christmas, and Prosperous New Year.
Best regards,
SCOTT GUTHRIE
