2015 Newsletter
Hello to all, Hunters and friends. It’s been a tough year, both for the industry and psychologically with all the negative press.
Let’s start in remembrance of two good men:
Ian who was at school with me, killed by an Elephant,
and Don, hunter friend of many years.
Both gone to happy hunting grounds. Go well my mates, see you on the other side.
Back to the hunting, and a big thank you to all those who hunted with me this year.
This year started off early in Uganda with Chris and Dougie of Uganda Wildlife Safaris, hunting with Alfred and a few of his friends from Russia. Straight after that saw Brad from Ohio arriving for the elusive Sitatunga and a few others for his collection. Brad, I am still looking for that Long Horned cow for you as well as a Bohor Reedbuck!! From there it was the film crew from Texas led by the now famous Larry and his buddy Tim, with cameraman, Nolan. A good time had by all - look forward to seeing the footage, chaps.
Long time friend Graham from South Africa arrived with Kevin to hunt a bunch of different trophies. Kevin got an excellent East African Impala, Sitatunga, Nile and East African Bushbuck as well as Nile Buffalo, Uganda Kob and Defassa Waterbuck.
A busy start, then back to Zim for a quick rest before welcoming the White party from North Dakota, led by Mum and Dad with the kids, Grankids and a couple of friends. We saw a full camp 20 folks with the PH’s. Lots of laughs and some good Trophies.
Now June saw the Bird hunting party from South Africa, knocking down a bunch of Guineafowl and Francolin. We had a bit of fun when an Elephant Bull was mistakenly driven through the line, and the chaps armed only with shotguns!!!!
June also saw the Father and son combo of David and James out of Oklahoma. James hunted with me while David was with PH Shaun Buffee. A good hunt taking Lion, Leopard, Buffalo and some plains game.
July now here with the temperatures dropping. Charlie arrived accompanied by his son,Chuck and daughter-in-law Kerry hunting with Ph Brent Hein, and friend Chris. Charlie at 72 made an excellent shot on a nice old Dagga Boy and Chris took his first African animals. Look forward to seeing you all in Dallas. Thanks again to Chuck for bringing the spare parts for my plane - much appreciated.
August saw the arrival of a father and son group – Eric and his two sons Kurt and Neil, accompanied by artist Guy. Terry guided the two mature gentlemen to wonderful Buffalo, and the lads didn’t do too badly either. Enjoyed it, guys, and I look forward to doing it again soon.
PS. Nice shirts!!
Finally it was Ron from Michigan on a Buffalo hunt with his buddy Larry r, guided by Ade Langley. We worked hard to get his very old Dagga Boy on day 9 of 10 days, and finished off with a nice catch of fish and a bunch of birds. Good trip gentlemen, look forward to doing it again.
Well another season done, I bid farewell to my two friends, and know that they are in a better place.
To all of you who came, again, many thanks, and to those who are in the process of coming next year, we look forward to seeing you and sharing the wonderful blessings of the Wildlife and the Wilderness.
